We went to some caves last S
aturday and went on a boat ride on an underground lake. Nathaniel was excited and loved every minute of it. Cassandra did pretty well also. We hiked about 3/4 of a mile down through caves to the dock where we boarded a boat and took a little ride. Supposedly it is the largest underwater lake in the U.S. The
Cherokee Indians used the caves for rituals and a meeting place. During the civil war the Confederate Army mined it for saltpeter, which was used to make gunpowder.
